When He gives you a directive, He also ensures that there’s a plan in place for you to carry it out—no confusion allowed!

Take, for instance, the story of Elijah. God instructed him to head to a little village called Zerapheph, where He had already arranged for a widow to take care of him.
1 Kings 17:8]And the word of the Lord came to him:[9]Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.

And guess what? Elijah obeyed. He followed the Lord’s command straight to that village, and despite the widow’s challenging circumstances, God came through!

The provision was there, and the word of the Lord was fulfilled.

The real question is: where did this instruction originate? The instruction to anoint Saul came directly from the Lord, as recorded in 1 Samuel 15:11: “Samuel told Saul, ‘The Lord sent me to anoint you king over His people Israel. Now listen and heed the words of the Lord.'”

It’s important to note that Samuel did not decide on his own to anoint Saul; that command was given to him by the Lord.
