To fulfill God’s purpose, we must actively encourage our friends and community to embrace Christianity.
The Bible reminds us that “now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). It states, “For He says, In the time of favor, I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance. Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance from God; behold, now is the day of salvation” (Isaiah 49:8).
One important task we have is to persuade others to become Christians, regardless of their backgrounds, occupations, or circumstances. When the Apostle Paul stood before King Agrippa, Festus, and Bernice to defend himself, he took the opportunity to encourage King Agrippa and others to accept Christianity. While we may not know if King Agrippa ultimately became a Christian, we do know that he was persuaded by Paul to consider the faith (Acts 26:28-29). Agrippa remarked, “You think it a small task to make a Christian of me?” to which Paul responded, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you, but also all who are listening to me today, might become such as I am, except for these chains.”
Reflective Questions about the Teaching:
a) From your perspective, what did the Apostle Paul achieve when he stood before King Agrippa to defend himself against the accusations?
b) Will you commit to persuading others to embrace Christianity starting today?
c) What lessons have you learned from this context?
Confession Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for the blessings in my life. Grant me the strength to encourage others to embrace Christianity in Your name. Amen.
