The bible contemplates perspective of due in reference to King Joram of Israel who decided to attack the king of Moab after Moab failed to pay its tribute.
The rebellion of the king of Moab occurred following the death of King Ahab.
King Joram sought and secured the military assistance of King Jehoshaphat to launch the attack.The king of Edom also joined the alliance, making it a coalition of three kings against Moab.
Before proceeding to battle, King Jehoshaphat insisted on seeking divine guidance.King Jehoshaphat requested to consult a prophet of the Lord to determine their proper course of action.
And so we realise that the decision to consult a prophet highlights the spiritual preparation of the kings before the conflict.
The alliance brought together the kingdoms of Israel, Judah (under Jehoshaphat), and Edom. 2 Kings 3:4-7[4]Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and paid in tribute to the king of Israel [annually] 100,000 lambs and 100,000 rams, with the wool.[5]But when Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.[6]So King Joram went out of Samaria at that time and mustered all Israel.[7]And he sent to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to war against Moab? And he said, I will go; I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.
