Recently I travelled with one of my relatives to a certain village where we have abit of land and as we traversed through our property, we realised that one of the people that was doing farming close to us had removed our boundary mark with a purpose of grabbing our land
So stealing other people’s land has become more common and normalized in modern times.
Land theft is a widespread issue occurring in both urban towns and rural villages.Individuals who steal land often do so without offering any apology or showing remorse for their actions.
The act of land theft is committed with a clear view and awareness of the wrongdoing so Historical and spiritual precedents show that the Israelites were explicitly cautioned against stealing land as they were preparing to settle in the land provided to them by the Lord.
The Lord specifically commanded the people not to remove established boundary markers that were originally set up by ancestors to clearly define their property as shown in the book of Deuteronomy 19:14
[14]You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess, which the men of old [the first dividers of the land] set.
So removing a neighbor’s landmark is framed as a direct violation of spiritual and community laws and that preservation of property boundaries is emphasized as a long-standing historical obligation
