From perspective, We realize that meeting a national president naturally causes a person to prepare with great anticipation.
This anticipation typically includes dressing in one’s finest clothing.
This human preparation raises the question of how much more one should prepare to meet the LORD.
The LORD gave specific instructions to Moses regarding how to prepare the people for His arrival.Moses was commanded by the LORD to consecrate the people in anticipation of His arrival.Exodus 19:10-11[10]And the Lord said to Moses, Go and sanctify the people [set them apart for God] today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes[11]And be ready by the third day, for the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai [in the cloud] in the sight of all the people.
The preparation instructions included having the people wash their clothes.
The people were also instructed to abstain from sexual intercourse to prepare for the meeting.Moses obediently carried out all the preparation steps exactly as the LORD had instructed him.
The teaching emphasizes the immense importance of spiritual and physical preparation before meeting the LORD.
The instructions highlight that meeting the LORD requires a higher level of preparation than meeting earthly leaders.
Consecration was a fundamental requirement set by the LORD for His people.
Physical cleanliness, represented by washing clothes, was an essential part of the preparation process.Temporary self-denial, such as abstaining from intimate relations, was required for spiritual readiness so God’s servant Moses acted as the vital intermediary to ensure the people were properly prepared for the LORD’s arrival.
