The Central theme of this teaching in view focuses on the act of rebuilding pagan places of worship.
We realise that such locations are historically and spiritually referred to as “High places.”High places are defined as specific sites where sacrifices were historically made to other gods.
these locations remain the same today as places where people still go to sacrifice to “small gods and so “The text highlights the actions of King Manasseh upon his rise to power.
Manasseh actively re-established the worship of small gods and so this action was a direct reversal of his father’s previous work which Manasseh’s father had originally done of destroying these pagan sites.2 Kings 21:1-3 1]MANASSEH WAS twelve years old when he began his fifty-five-year [wicked] reign in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.[2]He [Hezekiah’s son] did evil in the sight of the Lord, after the [idolatrous] practices of the [heathen] nations whom the Lord cast out before the Israelites.3]For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshiped all the [starry] hosts of the heavens and served them!
