Let’s face it—some churches aren’t exactly upholding their holy credentials the way they should. Instead, they’ve been tainted by people’s ideologies and controversies.
The temple of the Lord has indeed been defiled. God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy against the Ammonites for a reason—because they cheered when the temple of the Lord was dishonored, something they definitely should not have done. As stated in Ezekiel 25:2-3:2] “Son of man, set your face toward the Ammonites and prophesy against them. [3] And say to the Ammonites, ‘Hear the word of the Lord God! For thus says the Lord God: Because you said “Aha!” over My sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when it went into captivity and exile…'”
Now, as we reflect on this teaching, let’s ponder some questions:
a) Why did the LORD instruct Ezekiel to prophesy against the Ammonites based on their actions?
b) What did the LORD declare would happen to the Ammonites due to their behavior?
c) What insights can we glean from our subject study related to these realizations?
Confession Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that I will not defile the house of the Lord or my own body, for my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen! So, let’s keep our spirits high and our temples pure—after all, we wouldn’t want to be caught cheering when the house of the Lord is in disarray!
